The Bible Way to Heaven

My friend, when people are asked, “Are you going to heaven”, the majority of people will respond with a, “I hope so” or “Maybe”. The truth of the matter is eternity is just one breath away for any of us. So what about heaven? Well the amazing truth is God in His word has declared that we can “know” for certain that we are going there. The Bible says in I John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” (Emphasis added).

How can one know? Well I would ask you to consider these 4 truths:

No one is perfect:

If we were honest with ourselves we would all agree with the statement, “No one is perfect” (including you and me). The Bible says it this way:

Romans 3:23. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 3:10. As it is written there is none righteous no not one.

The question is, can you agree with God that you have sinned (that you are not perfect)?

Decisions have consequences:

Again this is a truth that everyone has experienced, some the hard way and there is no denying it. Well, the Bible says because of our sin there is a consequence:

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death…

The bottom line friend is you and I are going to die one day, this is nothing new. However taking our last breath is not the end. After death there is a judgement:

Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgment:

That’s right my friend, one day you will stand in front of the God of the universe and give an account. At the final judgement the one determining factor on where you will spend eternity is found in these two verses:

Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.  15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Notice the determining factor is not did your good out weigh your bad. Do not forget we have already discussed the truth that we have sinned, we are not perfect. Read the Revelation verses again and let me ask a pointed question: If you were to take your last breath today, are things looking good or not so good? Regardless of how good or bad we might think, I ask you to consider the next two truths.

Jesus still Saves:

You see God knows everything about us and in spite of this, still chooses to love us and offer salvation through His Son Jesus Christ. The Bible says it this way:

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Joh 3:16-17  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  (17)  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Salvation is still free:

Let me remind you:

1. No one is perfect.

2. Because we have chosen to sin we are deserving of judgment in hell forever.

3. God knows us and what we deserve but loved us anyway and proved His love by sending His Son Jesus to die for our sins.

So what about this salvation?

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

You see my friend God has a gift and it is eternal life and only through Jesus. Please notice it is not through religious activity or certain religious affiliation. It is through the person of Jesus Christ and just like any gift has to be received to make it yours, the same applies here. The Bible says it this way:

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

You read it right, if you ask Jesus to save you from the penalty of your sin you will be saved.

You can ask Jesus to be Your Saviour.

The prayer below is provided as a help but please know its the believing heart not a specific “prayer” that Jesus is concerned with.

Dear Jesus:

I admit that I am not perfect. I have sinned. I know now that there are consequences for my actions and if I were to die right now I would not go to Heaven. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and I ask you, right now, to come into my heart, forgive me and be my Saviour. Thank you for saving me and giving me eternal life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
